I am here today to inform you about Prisoner Mohammed Khalil Al Halabi from the Gaza Strip. The occupation arrested him on June 15th, 2016 because of his humanitarian work with the poor families, the cancer patients, the farmers and the fishermen. He also used to introduce psychological and emotional support to children, especially the disabled.
When they arrested Mohammed, they actually assassinated the humanitarian work in the Gaza Strip, aiming to tighten the siege on Gaza.
Is it logical to subject him to 157 unfair trials for false charges with no evidence? Those charges proved to be false, as the institution that he used to work with, World Vision and the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs have conducted a neutral independent investigation that proved the falsity of those charges.
Is it reasonable to imprison him for 5 years to pressurize him and force him to admit any of their alleged charges, even if he did not commit any of them?
Is it reasonable to arrest a man who the UN named the Humanitarian Work Hero in 2014?
Does it make any sense to imprison a man for 5 years and subject him to 157 trials? This number of trials could be for a whole group of people; it could be for a president of a country, to minsters or other political figures who were arrested after a coup. These may need 5 years to be prosecuted.
One person to be imprisoned for 5 years and to be tried for 157 times. Is this fair? Is this the justice? No! it is the oppression itself.
